What started as a road trip from Kampala eventually turned into a full day of music, laughter, creativity and campus energy in Mbarara. On Saturday, September 5, Club Pilsener took Club Canvas On the Move to GKAT Resort, bringing students, content creators, media personalities and revellers together for an experience that began long before the first DJ touched the decks.
The journey started at Shell Lugogo, where Kampala trip winners joined content creators and members of the media aboard Club Canvas-branded buses. Music, games and conversations quickly turned the road trip into part of the experience. In Nkozi, more campus students joined the convoy, while a stop at the Equator gave everyone a chance to step off the buses, take photographs and create some of the day's most memorable moments.
Eventually, the convoy rolled into Mbarara, with the branded buses moving together through the city before arriving at GKAT Resort. By then, the party had already begun in spirit. Students from Nkozi, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Bishop Stuart University and Kampala International University in Ishaka joined other revellers from Mbarara and surrounding areas, creating a crowd that brought different campus communities together under one roof.
Club Canvas lived up to its identity as more than a music platform. Around the venue, guests moved between virtual-reality experiences, gaming areas, live tattoo artistry and other interactive attractions, giving them plenty to do between performances. It felt less like simply attending an event and more like walking through a playground built around music, creativity and contemporary campus culture.
The music gradually took over as the evening progressed. Mac DJ opened the early sessions before Riddim Seleckta and Lithan MC continued building the atmosphere, while DJ Trizzy Vybz and Benjhi MC kept the crowd engaged with a change of pace. DJ Alza and MC Dreadlock Dziz then carried the momentum further into the night.
Lynda Ddane and Evelyn M!C also kept the audience connected as the evening stretched on. Their presence added another familiar entertainment touch before the night reached its biggest performances.
Then came Fik Fameica, and GKAT Resort found another gear.
The Ugandan rapper delivered the high-energy performance the crowd had been waiting for, moving through his catalogue as students and revellers sang, danced and cheered along. After a full day that had started on the road from Kampala, his appearance provided one of the night's defining moments.
However, Mbarara still had one more story to tell.
Truth 256 followed as the final live performer, bringing a distinctly western Ugandan identity to the stage. Born in Mbarara, the rapper and songwriter blends contemporary hip-hop with Ankole heritage, performing in Runyankore, Luganda and English. His appearance gave the home-region audience a moment to celebrate one of its own.
Even after the final live performance, the night refused to end quietly. DJ Ali Breezy and Lithan MC took the experience into its closing stretch, keeping the crowd moving as Club Canvas On the Move finally brought its Mbarara chapter to a close.
From a bus ride out of Kampala to a packed night at GKAT Resort, Club Canvas proved that sometimes the destination is only half the story. The journey can be the party too.
