This Saturday, August 29, 2026, Club Pilsener brings Kigali and Kampala together as Afro Urban: Kigali Meets Kampala takes over VibeHouse at MoTIV Bugolobi. Starting at 5:00 PM, the experience will bring artists, DJs and creative voices from Uganda and Rwanda into the same space for an evening centred on contemporary African music and culture.
At the heart of the night are two distinctive voices: Rwanda’s Mike Kayihura and Uganda’s Kohen Jaycee. Their meeting gives the event its character, connecting Kigali’s creative energy with Kampala’s alternative and Afro-urban scene.
Kayihura has built a reputation as one of Rwanda’s versatile contemporary musicians. His music moves through soul, R&B and modern influences while remaining connected to his Rwandan and wider East African roots. With projects including Barely Mixed, Zuba and his 2026 comeback release Intwaza, his appearance adds a strong Rwandan voice to the evening.
Across the border, Kohen Jaycee brings his own story. He began performing through poetry, acoustic shows and online covers before developing music shaped by personal storytelling and soulful melodies. His catalogue includes Wena, Heartstrings and his debut album Rwebembera: Rising Echoes. As he prepares audiences for his forthcoming HERITANCE project, this performance offers another opportunity to experience his evolving sound live.
The story does not end with the two headliners. Mike Mungu and Kyle Simbwa will widen the musical conversation, bringing R&B, soul, Afro-pop, Afro-fusion and alternative influences into the programme. Together, they represent the different directions contemporary Kampala music continues to take.
Then, as the live performances give way to the DJs, DJ Ames, DJ Kai, DJ Karsten and DJ Kaz will keep the atmosphere moving. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s Zuba Mutesi will guide the experience as the official host, adding another important Kigali voice to the night.
Organised by Afro Urban in collaboration with Sesse Nation and Shorts Na Lessu, the event follows Afro Urban’s March Her Edition at MoTIV. This time, however, the platform turns its attention outward, creating a meeting point between two cities whose creative scenes continue to influence the wider East African cultural landscape.
Club Pilsener’s involvement adds another chapter to that story. The brand has supported Uganda’s music and entertainment scene through platforms including Club MegaFest, Club Beats At Home, Club Dome and Club Canvas. That history makes its partnership with this cross-border Afro Urban experience a natural continuation of its connection with music, creativity and culture.
As Saturday approaches, Afro Urban: Kigali Meets Kampala offers more than a night of performances. It offers a meeting between sounds, stories and creative communities from two neighbouring cities.
