After weeks of rehearsals, challenges, training and the pressure of competing for the Miss Uganda crown, the finalists finally got permission to forget about the competition for one night.

On Friday, October 2, the contestants traded their training schedules for music, dancing, laughter and a little freedom during a V&A Girls’ Night Out at the Boot Camp House in Buwaate.

With the October 10 Miss Uganda Grand Finale approaching, the evening offered the finalists a rare chance to simply relax and enjoy each other’s company before the competition enters its final stretch.

For the contestants, boot camp has been anything but easy.

Sophie Asianzu, one of the finalists, said the intense training had left little room for relaxation, making the night out a welcome change of pace.

“Training season is tough, and I am glad that I get the chance to unwind and dance my stress away, have fun with the girls, and recharge for the grand finale,” she said.

The evening, hosted with V&A Sherry, was less about pageant preparation and more about letting the contestants drop their guard.

Music and dance took centre stage, with DJ Patra and DJ Krusher supplying the soundtrack while the House of Motion from Trroy Studios got the contestants moving.

For a few hours, there were no rehearsals to perfect, judging criteria to think about or preparations for the crown to worry about.

Instead, the finalists danced, laughed and caught up with one another.

Roy Ronald Tumwizere, V&A Brand Manager, said the evening was deliberately created to give the contestants a break from the demands of the competition.

“The boot camp season has been intense. These young women have been challenged physically, mentally and emotionally, so we wanted to give them a moment to step away from the competition, have fun, share moments, and be themselves,” he said.

“Moments like this are a great reminder that as V&A Sherry, we intentionally create spaces where women can connect, recharge and celebrate moments and experiences with those that matter.”

Beyond the music and dancing, the night offered a glimpse into the relationships developing among the contestants.

Although they are ultimately competing for the same crown, the finalists have spent weeks sharing the same environment, experiences and pressures. The Girls’ Night Out provided an opportunity to enjoy that bond before the competition reaches its decisive stage.

Murungi Angel Liz, another finalist, said the evening lived up to expectations.

“I expected a crazy night, and yeah, I got served. Having trained intensely throughout this week, this night out has really been nice,” she said.

The Girls’ Night Out is part of V&A Sherry’s wider association with the Miss Uganda 2026 journey, with the brand supporting the competition from its launch and regional contests through the final stage.

For the finalists, however, the night was less about sponsorships and more about the simple pleasure of stepping away from the pressure for a few hours.

Soon, the gowns will come out, the lights will go up and the final names will be called.

But before the crown is decided, the Miss Uganda finalists got one night to dance, laugh and simply be girls.

The Miss Uganda Grand Finale is set for October 10, when this year’s winner will be crowned. Members of the public can vote for their preferred finalist through Africa Votes.
