Kampala has no plans of slowing down this October.

From throwback parties and fashion events to pageantry, cultural experiences, brunches and live music, the city’s entertainment calendar is packed with reasons to step out.

We kick things off on October 2 with The Last Gal at Guvnor Street, where DJ Last Gal takes centre stage for her first solo headline show.

The following day, October 3, brings two very different flavours of nostalgia.

At Fairway Hotel, the Old School Soiree celebrates three years with a throwback experience built around 90s music, fashion and the kind of nostalgia that keeps old-school lovers coming back.

Meanwhile, Queen Shinga Day returns to Ndere Cultural Centre, bringing back childhood memories through traditional Ugandan games including Omweso, Duulu and Sonko.

On October 4, Garden Pop House returns to Tales Lounge with a tropical-themed experience featuring Elijah Chipaka.

Then comes one of the busiest Thursdays of the month.

On October 8, Kampala has several options competing for your attention. Strictly Soul takes over Mestil Gardens, Afrobeats heads to Vanquish, Edwizzy Music Fest lands at Black Panther, while The Bugy Show – Y2K Edition brings its early-2000s nostalgia to Motiv.

If the Kampala calendar feels a little too crowded, there is always the option of leaving the city behind.

From October 9 to 11, Afro Migration Fest heads to Jinja, taking over Nile Nest Resort for three days of food, fashion and music against a riverside setting.

Back in Kampala, October 10 belongs to beauty, fashion and culture as the Miss Uganda Grand Finale takes over the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

Twenty finalists will compete for one crown, bringing the month’s pageant journey to its biggest night.

Also on October 10, Old School R&B and Friends heads to Masheda Palms for a night dedicated to classic R&B sounds.

For Kampala’s fashion crowd, Kampala Style Brunch returns on October 25 at Black Panther.

Expect a stylish afternoon where what you wear is almost as important as where you are.

And then, on October 31, the month signs off with The Mixtape at Tehila’s Café & Grill.

The experience brings together bottomless brunch, live barbecue, old-school Hip-Hop and R&B, creating a day-to-night experience for guests looking to eat, socialise and keep the weekend going.

So whether your idea of a good October involves old-school music, fashion, culture, pageantry, nightlife or simply finding somewhere new to spend your weekend, Kampala has plenty on the calendar.

October is busy. Pick your side of the city and make your plans.
